How to read this

You pay FTMO in total is every fee across the attempts you budget for. Most people budget one attempt and buy three. Budget honestly.

Comes back with your first payout applies to the 2-step challenge: the fee for the attempt you passed is refunded with the first payout from the funded account. The 1-step fee is not refunded. No payout means no refund, so the fee is at risk until that day.

Money you will not see again is the fees for failed attempts plus any non-refundable passing fee. Nothing you do on the funded account changes that number.

Gross profit needed to break even divides your sunk fees by your profit split. It is the profit on the funded account that puts you back to zero. It says nothing about how likely that is.

Things the calculator will not pretend to know

  • Your pass probability. Published industry estimates for two-step evaluations are in the single digits to low teens. Nobody can tell you yours.
  • Your future profit. The "hypothetical first payout" is a scenario you type in, not a forecast.
  • Your checkout price. FTMO prices in EUR, varies by country and tax, and runs official promotions. Prices here were last checked 2026-10-16.

When buying is the wrong call

If the sunk-fee number would hurt, if you have not traded a consistent strategy for at least a few months, or if you are hoping the account will solve an income problem, the better decision is to wait. The challenge will still be there, and often cheaper during an official sale.
